Officer Elections

At the regular monthly membership meeting on November 15, 2011, nominations were accepted for the Election of Officers in Local Lodge 50 for 3 year terms starting January 1, 2012 and expiring December 31, 2014. The nominations resulted in all eight Officer positions receiving only one incumbent nomination for each office. A motion was made to elect the unopposed nominees by acclimation. This motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The eight elected Officers are listed in the panel to the right.

Steward Training

On October 22, 2011 Local 50 arranged for the IAM Southern Territory Educator, James Parker, to provide members of the local with Shop Steward Training. Graduates of the class include Joseph Martin, Candace Miller, Tony Marshall, Ron Eaves, Billy Colson, Ivan Armstrong, Glenn Battis, and Ken Davis.

Organize!

MONEY. That’s the bottom line in the world of work! U.S. government figures show that union members make a lot more money than non-union employees. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Union members earn 28% more than non-union workers in wages alone. (If you include the value of benefits, it’s 36% more!)

So that’s the bottom line – joining the IAM puts thousands more dollars into your pocket, year after year. It’s a no-brainer! Joining the IAM is the smartest financial move you can make. The IAM's Organizing Department can help you in many ways. They have an experienced and motivated staff to lead you through your campaign. These people work very hard to maintain our winning record. Just send us an email to organize@iamll50.org and we will have a trained organizer contact you to set up a discreet meeting to discuss what the IAM can do for you and your co-workers.
